Welcome to Dr. Jeff’s Ranty Blog Sandbox

If you’ve stumbled onto this page, dear reader, you might be asking yourself, Why on earth would a clinical psychologist call his blog a “Ranty Sandbox”? Fair question.

For those who know me well, the “ranty” part needs no explanation. I rant. A lot. Sometimes too much. I rant about the ideological takeover of mental health, the capture of our children’s identities, the medicalization of normal adolescent suffering, the push for early transgender affirmation with little long-term evidence to back it up. I rant because I care, and because silence is complicity. And yes, I’ve paid a price for speaking out. Many of us have. In today’s climate, if you dare to push back on the system, brace yourself. You will be silenced, sidelined, vilified, or worse.

So why sandbox?

Because healing, real healing, needs space to play. As a pediatric psychologist, I’ve spent decades watching kids do what comes naturally when they’re hurt, scared, or confused: they play. They instinctively know what most adults forget, play is how you work through pain. So in this sandbox, I write not just to resist and challenge, but to process. To metabolize my own adversity, past and present. To toss some ideas around like toy trucks and plastic shovels and see what emerges.

Some posts are heavy. Some are ridiculous. Some are thinly veiled letters to people I care about, hoping they read between the lines. And some—well, they’re just fun. Because life’s too short to be serious all the time, even when the world’s on fire.

This is my space to wrestle, rant, reflect, and occasionally inspire. You're welcome to join me—just don’t mind the sand on your shoes.
